Akmal Brothers dropped from South Africa Tour
PCB has axed Akmal brothers from the upcoming south africa tour where they will be playing 3 test matches , 2 T20Is and 5 ODIs from Feb 1 to Mar 24.
Pakistan opted Sarfaraz Ahmed as wicketkeeper for the Test series while ODI and T20I squad is yet to be announced.
Pakistan will be going to land of Seam and Bounce with 4 seamers, 2 professional spinners.
Seamers includes Umar Gul, Junaid Khan , Mohammad Irfan and Ehsan Adil. Irfan and Ehsan will be playing their debut test match if selected in playing 11. With recent performance in India, Irfan is more likely to be selected in playing 11. He did give a good performance in India and made them struggle against his bowling. Though he only got 3 wickets in the series of 3 matches, His height helped him lot against Indian batsmen who are known or supposed to be weak against bouncers. Junaid khan was at his best and took 8 wickets from 3 matches and topped the wicket chart along with Saeed Ajmal.
Akmal brothers have been out of form for some time as both were not able to convert their starts in to a good innings in any of the match. Umar Akmal may have irritated the cricket pundits after he gifted away his wicket in last ODI against India. Kamran Akmal though was good behind the wickets. He held tough catches, did his keeping well, but with the bat, could not satisfy the selectors.
PCB maintained their spin star Saeed Ajmal along with Abdur Rehman who will be returning after 3 months ban for failing dope test in English County Season.
Pakistan team will be as follows : Misbah-ul-Haq (captain), Mohammad Hafeez, Younus Khan,Nasir Jamshed, Azhar Ali,Asad Shafiq, Haris Sohail,Faisal Iqbal, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Umar Gul, Junaid Khan, Muhammad Irfan, Ehsan Adil, Taufiq Umar, Saeed Ajmal, Abdur Rehman.
